On the way back from the sixth Crusade, Frederick II of Swabia has stopped on the plateau of the Murge, in the Land of Bari. The emperor, fascinated by the beauty of the places and the healthy and mild climate of the hills of Murgia, decided to build, in 1232, a cathedral, around which it gathered the populations that lived in the small villages of the area.
Centuries-old are the heirs of those populations to emulate the emperor to remind the founder of the city and the deep bond that binds them. The arrival of Frederick II in the Land of Bari is recalled by Federicus, the medieval festival that involves the entire ancient Federic city.
The event, during previous editions, has attracted thousands of visitors from neighbors and tourists from abroad. The party is animated by a multitude of bandwagon, tambourines, jugglers, street and jungle artists along the streets of the ancient center.

There are not any official dates of the Festival but probably the next Federicus will take place from the April 25th to May 1st.
